How To: Manually Set Up My Wake Tech Email On My Phone

This article provides the basic settings you will need in order to set up your phone to receive your Office 365 email. For more detailed steps, please refer to Microsoft's Phone and Tablet Setup Reference (https://support.office.microsoft.com/en-gb/article/Phone-and-tablet-setup-reference-6777abf4-0430-4392-bea0-9c169d85b14d) on how to set up your specific phone or device to receive your Office 365 email.

  1. Locate the email settings on your phone (refer to your phone documentation or manufacturer on how to locate your email settings.

    NOTE: To set up your email account, you will have to set up the account manually. On your phone, look for the option Manual Setup or Other to set up your email account.

  2. When prompted, enter the following information:
    • Email Address: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    • Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and My Wake Tech)
    • Account Name or Description: You can set an Account Name or Description for your Office 365 email account to differentiate it from other email accounts on your phone. (ex. My Wake Tech Email)

  3. Next, enter the following server information for POP Settings:
    • POP Server (or Host Name): outlook.office365.com
    • User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    • Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and My Wake Tech)
    • Security: SSL
    • Port: 995

  4. Next, enter the following server information for the Outgoing/SMTP Settings:
    • SMTP Server (or Host Name): smtp.office365.com
    • User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    • Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and My Wake Tech)
    • Security: TLS
    • Port: 587

 To Manually Set Up Your Office 365 Email on Your iPhone

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap Add account
  4. Tap Other
  5. Tap Add Mail Account
  6. Enter your Name, Wake Tech email address, Password, and Description. Then tap Next.
  7. Tap POP
  8. Enter the following information:
    Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name: outlook.office365.com
    User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and Blackboard)

    Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name: smtp.office365.com
    User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and Blackboard)

    Then tap Save.

After a few moments, your account will be verified, and you will be taken back to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars page. At this point, you can press the Home button, and tap the Mail icon. Find your Wake Tech mailbox and tap on it. Your email may take a few minutes to update and sync to your iPhone.

To Manually Set Up Your Office 365 Email on Your Android Device

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Accounts
  3. Tap Add account
  4. Tap Email
  5. Enter your Wake Tech email address and password, and then tap Manual Setup
  6. Tap POP3 Account
  7. Enter the following information:
    Incoming Server Settings
    User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and Blackboard)
    POP3 Server: outlook.office365.com
    Security Type: SSL

    Port: 995
    Delete email from server: Never

    Then tap Next

    Outgoing Mail Server
    SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
    Security Type: TLS
    Port: 587
    User Name: Your full Wake Tech email address (ex. jbdoe@my.waketech.edu)
    Password: Your Key Account Password (the same password you use for WebAdvisor and Blackboard)

    Then tap Next.
  8. In the Sync settings, you can leave the sync schedule as is. Also, make sure the Notify me when email arrives option is checked. Then tap Next.
  9. Enter an account name for your mailbox, as well as your full name (for when you send outgoing email from your device). Then tap Next.

Now, go to the Email app, and look for your newly created email account. Your email may take a few minutes to update and sync to your Android device.
